News and Notes 11-16-11

*-Michael Vick didn't practice today and he is sounding unlikely to play Sunday night. However it's still early in the week so we just don't know. Vince Young spit first team reps with Mike Kafka today but it's assumed Young would start if Vick can't play.

*-Matt Cassel had surgery on his injured hand and while he hasn't gone on injured reserve yet, it's likely to happen within the next couple of weeks.

*-Kevin Kolb didn't practice again and is not likely to be able to play for the Cardinals.

Running Backs

*-LaDainian Tomlinson has been ruled OUT for Thursday night's game with a knee sprain. Joe McKnight will assume his role in the offense.

*-Willis McGahee is Questionable and will be a game time decision for tomorrow night's game with his hamstring strain. Even if he is active, I expect we're going to see a lot of Lance Ball. Just more reason to grab Ball off free agent wires.

*-Oakland says Darren McFadden is making progress in his recovery from a foot injury but it's speculated by the local Bay Area media that he is not going to be able to play week 11. It looks like Michael Bush will get the start again this week.

*-Ryan Grant missed practice today. Given that Grant has had very little fantasy value save for one game this year this shouldn't affect your starting lineup decisions this week. The exact nature of the injury wasn't given.

*-Frank Gore missed practice today but that was expected. The team says they expect Gore to be able to play week 11 but it's not a given with a bone bruise on his knee. This could be a very real split between him and rookie Kendall Hunter this week.

*-Ahmad Bradshaw didn't practice today and his status for this week is very questionable. Bottom line is that if he doesn't practice by Friday, he won't play. I'm currently expecting him to miss this week because of his foot injury.

*-Carolina placed Mike Goodson on injured reserve with his hamstring injury. Josh Vaughan was called up from the practice squad to take Goodson's place far behind DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

*-Felix Jones was able to practice in limited fashion today and barring any setbacks before the weekend he'll be able to play for first time in several weeks. But he won't be 100% recovered from his ankle sprain and Dallas has already said that DeMarco Murray is their starting RB. Jones will go back to same type of complimentary role he had when Marion Barber was the top RB in Dallas in years past.

*-Arizona's Beanie Wells was held out of practice today because of his troublesome knee injury. It's believed the Cardinals were just resting him and he is currently still expected to be able to start week 11. But it's against San Francisco's top ranked run defense that has yet to allow a single rushing TD thru 9 games. You should strongly consider other options from your rosters.

*-Amongst RB's who are not expected to play this week are Detroit's Jahvid Best (concussion) and Cleveland's Montario Hardesty (calf). Peyton Hillis has already been ruled OUT.

Wide Receivers

*-Jeremy Kerley was ruled OUT for tomorrow night's game. No word on who will be the #3 WR for the Jets when they face Denver.

*-A.J. Green is considered Questionable and will be a game time decision because of his hyper-extended knee injury.

*-Jacoby Ford is expected to miss week 11 with his foot injury. Denarius Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey should be the starters for Oakland.

*-Jeremy Maclin was unable to practice today and he is sounding very unlikely to be able to play thru both shoulder and hamstring injuries.

*-Julio Jones didn't practice because of his new hamstring injury but he hasn't been ruled out for week 11 yet. We simply won't know until Friday as I expect if he doesn't practice, he won't play.

*-Malcom Floyd missed practice with his hip injury and like with Jones, if he doesn't practice by Friday I doubt he plays.

*-Seattle says they are hopeful both Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin will play week 11, but both players need to pass their concussion tests or they'll sit. They hadn't passed those tests as of today.

*-Mohamed Massaquoi was able to practice some today and it appears he may be able to play this week. His return to the Browns starting lineup should have no affect on your starting lineup decisions though.

*-Amongst WR's who either missed practice today or were limited but are expected to be fine for week 11 include the Giants Mario Manningham (knee), Atlanta's Harry Douglas (thigh), Minnesota's Michael Jenkins (knee), Buffalo's David Nelson (ankle), and St. Louis's Brandon Gibson (groin).

Tight Ends

*-Anthony Fasano missed practice with an ankle injury but it's believed he'll be okay for week 11.

*-Todd Heap missed practice again and it almost seems like a foregone conclusion he won't play this week after missing several games now with a hamstring injury.
