Picking The Right Players in a Fantasy Football League

One of the most difficult things in a fantasy football league is picking the right players. That might sound easy at first, but when you think about it, there are hundreds of players, and filling your roster with the right fantasy football league players is more than just knowing the top players in every position.

Running a fantasy football league team is more than just stats. You have to be a fan and you have to understand the game. Take the NFC West division for example. Start with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks' obvious fantasy football league stars would be players such as running back Shaun Alexander and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. But what about the rest of the roster? Who is the best pick up from their group of receivers. Deion Branch had a good season after being picked up in a trade with the New England Patriots, but Darrell Jackson has had several productive years as well.

The San Francisco 49ers made several strides last season, and should have several players that should be targeted as major pickups in fantasy football league drafts. Quarterback Alex Smith made huge strides as a quarterback for the 49ers, recovering from a terrible rookie season. But now that offensive coordinator Norv Turner is off to San Diego, his numbers might go down, lessening his value as a fantasy football league burgeoning star.

Of course, 49ers running back Frank Gore will be a target for nearly every fantasy football league owner this season. The former University of Miami running back took over the main rushing role for San Francisco and finished with more than 1,500 yards. But again, how will Turner’s departure affect his fantasy football league numbers?

The Cardinals also have several intriguing fantasy football league players. Quarterback Matt Leinart had a relatively impressive rookie season. But has he done enough to warrant a high draft pick in a fantasy football league draft? Of course, Leinart is blessed with two very good receivers, Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. But will either of them get enough balls thrown their way to warrant being a first-round draft pick?
