Dear Registered User:

As you rumble towards the playoffs like Larry Johnson mowing over a DB, now is the time to start eyeing potential trade bait. Look closely at your opponents … who's frustrated, impatient, or is just losing faith in their roster? These folks are especially susceptible to trades that can benefit you - remember, cooler heads prevail. This week, NFL Fantasy Football analyst Russ Bliss recommends you take a hard look at three players in particular and consider making a deal. But before we get to that, here's what's in store this week:

Three Players to Watch
If you’re on the prowl for some trade deals, here are three NFL players you should consider:

  • Brian Westbrook: He has only 1 TD in the last 3 games and has put up good yardage numbers, but after starting the season hot, Westbrook has come down. Philly’s on bye week 9, and Westbrook may be able to be “had” for less than he would have cost a few weeks ago. He has 500 rush yards and 401 receive yards (most among RBs). He’s caught 38 passes (2nd most among RBs) and has already missed one game this season. While not the most durable RB, the Eagles will need him weeks 14-16 when they face each of their division opponents in what are sure to be must win games for the NFC East title.
  • Willis McGahee: Despite having 564 rushing yards, fantasy owners are down on him because he has only 1 TD and in his last 3 games and hasn’t had more than 66 rushing yards in any of them. The Bills have favorable match-ups weeks 14-16 at the Jets (29th ranked run D), vs. Miami (13th, but remember he had 86 yards and a TD against last season), and vs. Tennessee (31st). After this week 9 match-up vs. Green Bay, McGahee goes to Indy (32nd ranked run D) and Houston (26th). That’s five (5 ) favorable match-ups in the 7 games from week 10 to week 16 for a RB who should be performing better than he has.
  • Donald Driver: All the attention is going to Greg Jennings and his great season to date. However, Driver has a lot more experience and is healthier than Jennings right now. He has only 2 TDs on the season and has had 50 yards or fewer in 4 of 7 games and only eclipsed 100 in 1. In weeks 14-16, Driver is at San Francisco (30th ranked receive D; league high 15 TD passes allowed), vs. Detroit (29th; 14 pass TDs), and vs. Minnesota (26th; 8 pass TDs).

Remember, the best negotiators are cool and calculating. And the one who wins the negotiation is the one with the best information. FFS.com’s Power Trade Analyzer is the perfect tool to research potential trade offers and propose trades.

Forum Post of the Week
This week's forum post deals with an often-overlooked subject for trades and line-up help: Defense. As Russ Bliss writes, Ds can be especially tough to predict. Who's better this week: Buffalo or Minnesota? What about trading Carolina for Seattle? Put in your two cents on our user forums.

Redskins Super Sleeper
This week's Super Sleeper pick is Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell. Mark Brunell has been brutal more often than not this year, and his arm strength looks shaky. In 4 of 7 games he's thrown for fewer than 200 yards, in 3 of them no TD's, and only 1 TD in 2 others. With the Redskins 2-5 and at the bottom of a highly competitive NFC East it won't take too many more losses before they turn to last year's 1st round pick. Campbell is an unknown for fantasy purposes as he has yet to throw a pass in a regular season game in his career, but there's no denying there are weapons around him that could make him succeed. There's a solid running game, and a highly paid pass catching corps that clearly is struggling because of Brunell. If Brunell, who has been limited in practice this week because of a rib injury, has another mediocre game and loses to Dallas this weekend at home in Washington, Campbell could be getting his shot as soon as week 10.
