Dallas: Roy Williams got thru week 7 without aggravating his rib injury and he isn’t on the injury report. It appears a pecking order has been established with the RB’s. Marion was the starter week 7 and had the most carries. Felix Jones was second in line, while Tashard Choice got next to nothing. I wouldn’t drop Choice yet though as neither Barber nor Jones have proven capable of staying healthy for any length of time.

New York Giants: Brandon Jacobs finally broke out of his slump with a nice performance week 7. Hopefully this is a sign of better things to come from the disappointing RB. Ahmad Bradshaw is Probable with ankle and foot injuries and while he’ll play, Bradshaw is at risk for a season ending foot injury because he plays on a broken bone in his foot. Just an FYI. WR Mario Manningham is very questionable to play because of a shoulder injury and he is being considered a game time decision. Hakeem Nicks would start in his place of Manningham can’t go.

Philadelphia: Brian Westbrook has a concussion and while not officially ruled out for week 8 yet, it’s unlikely he plays. He hasn’t practiced at all this week and while the Eagles say he’ll be a game time decision, I’d be amazed if he was active, let alone play. LeSean McCoy will be the primary RB this week. DeSean Jackson has a minor foot strain but is Probable and will start. WR Kevin Curtis is out indefinitely as he recovers from his most recent knee surgery and should be dropped as I don’t think he’ll play again for several weeks, if at all the rest of this season.

Washington: TE Chris Cooley is out 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury. Fred Davis steps in as the new starting TE when the Redskins return from their bye. WR Devin Thomas actually looked pretty good and you should keep an eye on him to see if he continues to surprise.

Chicago: Those who have been torturing themselves with Matt Forte starting each week should finally see a return on their commitment this week as Forte gets Cleveland’s 31st ranked run defense both in terms of yards allowed and fantasy points allowed on the ground. Adrian Peterson is expected to return this week but it appears that he has been passed up by Garrett Wolfe as the top backup to Forte.

Detroit: Matt Stafford has practiced this week and while Questionable on the injury report it is expected that he will start week 8. WR Calvin Johnson has been limited in practices this week because of a knee injury and is Questionable on the injury report. Johnson will be a game time decision.

Green Bay: The Packers are down to 3 healthy WR’s after Brett Swain was placed on injured reserve this week. Jordy Nelson is already out a couple more weeks with a knee injury, so the team called up Jake Allen from their practice squad to be active on game days. TE Jermichael Finley is going to miss at least 1 week and maybe longer with a knee sprain. This means Donald Lee will have the TE catches mostly all to himself. Recently signed RB Ahman Green has supposedly usurped Brandon Jackson as the top backup to Ryan Grant. I say supposedly because while that’s what’s being reported, I will have to see it to believe it as Green hasn’t look good the last couple of seasons and is an injury waiting to happen.

Minnesota: Bernard Berrian is Questionable with a hamstring injury and will be a game time decision. Considering the injury and how he’s been usurped by Sidney Rice as the top WR in Minnesota, you can probably find a better starting option. Percy Harvin should start opposite even though Harvin is listed as Questionable with “illness”.

Atlanta: Both backup RB’s Jerious Norwood and Jason Snelling are Questionable on the injury report and neither is expected to be able to play week 8. Ovie Mughelli and newly signed Aaron Stecker will be the backups to Michael Turner.

Carolina: Jake Delhomme will start again week 8 despite another bad performance week 7. Delhomme though will be on a short lash. WR Muhsin Muhammad has been ruled out week 8 with an ankle injury and given his mediocre production this season can be dropped in favor of better options on your free agent wire. Dwayne Jarrett will start in Muhammad’s place. TE Dante Rosario has been ruled out as well with a knee injury. Jonathan Stewart continues to be listed as Questionable each week but he always plays and will do so again week 8.

New Orleans: The RB situation between Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell is going to be hard to predict on a week to week basis. Both have proven to be effective when they get extensive carries but neither is getting a bulk of the load and that limits their fantasy value. Kicker John Carney missed a FG and an extra point week 7 and while he is expected to be the active kicker over Garrett Hartley again this week another couple of misses could make the two switch places on future game days.

Tampa Bay: Rookie Josh Freeman will take over as the Bucs starting QB. With the Bucs on bye this week, Freeman will have additional time to get ready for his debut and barring a monumental flop it appears he’ll be their QB the rest of the season. Maybe his big time arm will help increase the production of WR Antonio Bryant. Bryant is looking to be almost fully recovered from the knee injury that gave him problems at the start of the season and could be a nice buy low candidate right now.

Arizona: WR Anquan Boldin made it thru week 7 without aggravating his ankle injury but he was clearly hobbled at times and while officially listed as Questionable for week 8 he is fully expected to start. Chris Beanie Wells got extensive playing time week 7 and had a solid showing displaying power and speed but the team isn’t committing to Wells as the starter over Tim Hightower yet. But Wells’ star is on the rise and he has a high upside going forward the rest of the season.

St. Louis: WR Donnie Avery is Probable despite hip and rib injuries. We’ll find out this week if Marc Bulger and the passing game are really as bad as believed since the Lions allow are 31st in pass defense in terms of yards allowed and fantasy points allowed thru the air. RB Steven Jackson continues to pile up yards each week but no touchdowns yet this season. Jackson is 3rd in rushing, second in combined rushing and receiving yards for all RB’s and you have to figure that he’s going to get at least a few touchdowns before the season is out so consider him a strong buy low candidate.

San Francisco: Shaun Hill has been replaced by Alex Smith as the starting QB. Smith’s got a stronger arm and should allow the 49ers to open things up down the field more. TE Vernon Davis has finally emerged and lived up to the talent we all thought he had when he was drafted a few years ago. Rookie WR Michael Crabtree played better than I expected in his first NFL action and while I’m still very dubious of him living up to hype, this was a positive sign for him going forward.

Seattle: The offensive line issues are clearly affecting TE John Carlson’s fantasy value as he has to stay in and block more often. Matt Hasselbeck’s cracked ribs injury is still bothering him but he is Probable for week 8 and will start despite that. Rumors continue to come out that backup RB Justin Forsett is expected to start getting more carries and playing time. Julius Jones is still the starter and Edgerrin James is there too, but Forsett is more explosive than either and he may be a smart acquisition to stash on the bench now in case he does have some sort of breakout and becomes a known commodity.
