First off, I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Yearís!

Week 17 is possibly the hardest week of the season to pick games since there are so many possibilities of who is resting players and itís unknown how the backups for teams like Indianapolis and San Diego will perform despite being superior teams to their opponents. I went a strong 12-4 in week 16 and while that raises my season total to 163-77, I cannot reach my preseason goal of 180 correct selections. But weíll see how I do this week and whether despite the many players sitting out or playing just a series or two, whether I can accurately gauge how things will play out. With that in mind, here are my week 17 picks.

Tampa Bay 24, Atlanta 17
Chicago 21, Detroit 10
Buffalo 24, Indianapolis 21
Cleveland 20, Jacksonville 17
Carolina 21, New Orleans 17
New England 28, Houston 27
Minnesota 31, NY Giants 21
Pittsburgh 24, Miami 23
San Francisco 21, St. Louis 13
Baltimore 27, Oakland 21
Arizona 20, Green Bay 17
Denver 26, Kansas City 20
Dallas 31, Philadelphia 27
Tennessee 24, Seattle 16
Washington 20, San Diego 16
NY Jets 24, Cincinnati 13

My week 16 Survivor Pool lock was San Francisco over Detroit. That makes me 14-2 in Survivor Pool locks with my only misses being Green Bay over Cincinnati back in week 2 and Cincinnati over Oakland a few weeks ago. In addition to San Francisco, Green Bay, and Cincinnati, Iíve also used Tennessee, Chicago, Dallas, Minnesota, Atlanta, New Orleans, Baltimore, Houston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New England, and San Diego. I was originally going to use the Denver Broncos this week, but those AFC West games are always tough so instead, Iíll take my chances with the New York Jets. If they win, theyíre in the playoffs while the Cincinnati Bengals have nothing to play for unless New England loses to Houston. That could happen, but I still figure the Bengals are going to rest a lot of their starters while the Jets will be going all out for the win. Therefore, Iíll take the Jets as my week 17 Survivor Pool lock of the week.

Russ,

I'm in an ESPN league, and week #2 of our champoinship is this week. need lineup help up 13 points in a standard league:
QB: cutler, VY, or alex smith
WR: does fitzgerald sit?, if so play colston, aromoshadu, or flier on nicks or doucet? starting a. johnson
RB: pick rb#3 between charles and harrisson? starting r. rice and gore.
TE: does a. gates play? if not: h. miller or finley?
week #17 is crazy to have all of these issues!
Thanks
Phil (Phx)
