The Chicago Bears hiring of Mike Martz for their offensive coordinator position has to make dynasty league owners who have any of their offensive players who aren't a TE happy. Mad Martz (as I have been calling him for years since he kind of reminds me of a mad scientist) will bring his Aerial Circus to Chicago and those in ppr formats can rejoice.

Except for those who have Greg Olsen.

TE's have never been prominently featured in Martz's offenses. It took Martz leaving San Francisco for the team to turn to Vernon Davis and discover how incredible he could be if used properly. In Detroit and St. Louis, TE's were afterthoughts in Martz's offense. Olsen, while talented, just lost a lot of upside and his stock in 2010 fantasy football projections just took a big blow.

The same can't be said for the other positions though.

Jay Cutler is almost a lock for 4,000+ passing yards. He'll still throw more interceptions than fantasy owners like to see from their starting QB, but the yards will be there and the TD's should stay between 26-30.

Matt Forte may not rush more than maybe 270 times, but he'll get back to catching passes out of the backfield. 70+ receptions are realistic to expect for 2010.

Whoever emerges as the top 3 in the WR quartet of Devin Hester, Devin Aromashodu, Earl Bennett, and Johnny Knox should all post solid numbers. To put it into comparison of the Rams offenses orchestrated by Martz, I'd say Aromashodu is most like Isaac Bruce, Knox like Torry Holt, Hester like Az-Zahir Hakim, and Bennett like Ricky Proehl. But that's just an observation from the top of my head and by August we'll have a much firmer idea of which receiver fits into which part.

And while I think the hiring of Martz will be a boom for the fantasy football projections of most of the offensive players, it won't necessarily translate into wins. Too many times over the years Martz's over aggressiveness in his passing game has cost his team's leads in games when a more conservative approach probably would have preserved them.

We'll see how Lovie Smith handles him. Smith has already stated that the Bears are still going to run the football, but they already had a 60/40 pass/run ratio in 2009. Martz usually strives for a 65/35 balance (which is what he averaged his two years in Detroit).

But for fantasy purposes and for entertainment purposes, the Bears just got a lot more interesting.

If the Bears are smart, they should try and get Boldin from the Cards. If they did that, they would be a bonified offensive threat.

We need an offensive line before this team becomes anywhere near an offensive powerhouse.  Pace sure the heck isn't what he use to be back in St. Loius.  So I hope Martz isn't expecting him to be the same.

Question 1' Will Cutler get along with the Mad Scientist?
Question 2. Trade Boldin?  for what, that TE they need? may as well since Olsen wont be doing much,,,lol!
