In many keeper leagues draft picks are traded, and adding a numeric value to draft picks(much like the NFL does), would be a great asset to use when trying to put together a trade.
----
10 teams, 4 keepers, Standard PPR scoring, Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1WR/RB, 1WR/TE, 1TE, 1K, 1DEF.
QBs: Flacco, Fitzpatrick, Kitna
WRs: Wayne, White, M.Williams(TB), M.Thomas, S.Moss, K.Britt
RBs: Mendenhall, B.Jackson, Best, Tolbert, Gerhart,
TEs: Gates, Cooley

I've looked at trying to come up with a forumla for that, but so much depends on the depth each year at QB, RB, and WR that it's inexac from year to year. Also there are great variances in types of keeper/dynasty leagues and how many rounds each draft is.

To me, the value drops off considerably after the last high upside RB is off the board. But that can be after the first overall pick, or the 6th.

I agree that the value of a pick is based on the remaining players on the board. However, much like the draft analyzer the scoring, number of teams in the league, and number of keepers could be selected from drop down menus. Then what would happen is the number of rounds, picks, and keepers would establish a "base value" on the first pick and reduce the value by a percentage the farther down the draft you go. Also instead selecting Round 1 pick 3, it would just be the over all pick number "3" or Round 3 pick 5 in a 10 team league would be overall pick 25. I have further details and descriptions, if you would like to email me(I am assuming since you are admin you have access to my email address) for those, I would be glad to share them with you, just not sure a public forum is a good idea to display them(for both our sakes).

I'm not sure if this is appropriate to post but here is an example of what I am talking about http://footballguys.com/pickvalue.htm

And what are they basing their suggestions on? Just a generic comparison of their perceived value of draft picks? Is it taking into account if you start 1 or 2 QB's? Only have start 1 RB and can start up to 4 WR's? PPR? 6 pts for TD passes rather than 4?

Those are very important things to be considered in determining how deep a draft is and what the value of each pick is. And that will vary from year to year. The link provided shows a very generalized pick calculator (and much like many Trade calculator products out there, an inferior product).

I'd rather not have something stamped with my approval than have something I didn't believe in as being more than a fluffy piece of mind candy used to make subscribers feel like they're getting something helpful, (but in reality aren't).

I completly agree! However, there are ways to incorporate the draft analyzer with a draft pick analyzer that would make it gold! One way to do so is to add a pick value on your draft analyzer, that would gather the information submitted and place a value on the picks based on league settings and scoring.

I'll look into this during the offseason and see if I can come up with a formula I like that can work for all different types of leagues. Thanks for the suggestion!
