I have been going with SJAX for most of the year and he has been pretty consistant, with a couple of weeks exceptions. But this week he is going up against the Pittsburgh DEF, and I feel that Pittsburgh will go on top early and possibly making STL abandon the run.

Kevin Smith has a better matchup and it looks like he is over his injury.

Any insights on this?

I start Jackson, not sold on Kevin Smith being 100% healthy. Steven Jackson is still the centerpiece of the Rams offense.

I have to agree with Throwball.  SJax has a tough matchup, but he's gonna get the ball.  I would go with a healthy Smith, but I can't trust that his ankle is really back.  I play SJax and have low expectations.

Thanks for your input, it is most appreciated. All of the comments thus far (as well as the other tools this site provides) have helped me get to the championship game again.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but the person I am going against (for the championship) has put together a monster team (McCoy, Foster, Calvin Johnson, Fitzgerald, Maclin, etc) that has scored the most points of any team. I think that I need to throw caution into the wind and go for really high upside players.

Does any of this information change your mind?

Not for me is doesn't because you have absolutely no control over the team you are playing against. All you can do is field the best team possible and hope that 1 or 2 players on the other team faulter and have an off game. I think that is quite possible for a player like Maclin. He is coming off a hammy sprain and has not put up good numbers the last 2 games since his return and hasn't scored since week 8. I think a WR like Fitzgerald is head and shoulders above Maclin, but Fitz draws Cincy, a defense ranked #8 vs the pass (FP/PG). Skelton is no Kolb, but has been as good recently as Kolb was playing before his concussion. So I think there are some question marks. Also take into consideration Foster being taken out if HOU gets out to a good lead and Tate takes control on the ground. Lots of "IFs" but that's fantasy football. Good luck starting tonight in the championship, George!

Can't sit SJax even against the Steelers D.  The only D that sits a RB for me this year is the 49ers.
