16 Team, fairly normal league; non ppr.

I get to draft last in first round and first in second, etc, so not sure if there is anything obvious I might miss with regards to my three keepers.

Calvin Johnson(WR), Chris Johnson(RB), Jimmie Graham(TE) are my initial picks.

Aside from those, the two I am worried about dropping are Darren McFadden(RB) San Fransisco(DST).

I guess my main question is, would the defense be a better foundation for my team strating the draft where I am, or should I just keep Johnson, Johnson and Graham?

Any thoughts?

I have no problems dropping a D/ST or DMC in this scenario. I think you have making the best decision keeping the 3 you named. DMC is always a risk because of his health. Defenses, unless you get return yardage don't score many points weekly, at least not enough to warrant them as a keeper. Especially in a 16 team league, where talents drops off quickly I think you keep those 3 as the core of your team.

Tough call. DMC is like a drug- you know its not good for you but you do it anyway. Every year I draft him, every year early he's a stud. This year I am staying away.

I think you nailed your keepers for sure. Those are excellent as a trio to build around.
