I have pick #5 in our draft this year. Ppr league, qbs get 6pts for TDs AND 1 pt per completion which makes this league Qb heavy. As has been the norm, I'm guessing arod, brees and Brady go 123. #4 I'm thinking is a toss up for that guy between foster or stafford/newton. If he goes rb do I dare go qb? Stafford or newton. Or stick to my guns and follow Russ's strategery and pick up highest rb which would be rice? Whatya think?

qb= 1/10yds, 1/completion

Stafford and I wouldn't look back. He will score more than Foster, even with Foster being an elite RB. Remember that strategy might not work for all leagues and scoring systems. Take that into consideration. If' it's a QB heavy league, then roll where the points are. I wouldn't hesitate to take Stafford if he is still there at #5

If the #4 guy goes stafford should I go newton?

If the big three QB's are gone I still pick Foster,McCoy or Rice. They might trounce you in the Qb position but their running backs will stink.

Stafford is still a HUGE injury risk.

STOP THE ABSOLUTE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Listen to James and also read the countless posts I have made about this same issue in the forum. I guarantee you that you will lose your league if you take a QB other than Brees, Rodgers or Brady in the 1st round.

PS If the first 4 teams all took QBs, my first pick would be Foster, my second pick would be another tier 1 RB (a PPR beast like Bush or Forte), a top 3 WR or Graham (remember the first 4 guys already have their QBs),then my third pick would be another PPR standout RB if you didn't take one in round 2, Graham or Gronk, or a Top WR if the other guys (#6-10) already have QBs. If all teams haven't taken a QB by your 3rd pick then and only then I would take the best QB available.

Robert, I don't beleive it's madness at all. I do agree with James in this example and would draft one of those RBs over Newton. But a blanket statement of "you will lose your league if you take a QB other than Brees, Rodgers or Brady in the 1st round" I don't agree with. I think it's possible to win even if you selected Newton or another QB in the first. It's all how you come back in the next 2 rounds that will give you a better idea as to how your team might do. Being flexible in a draft is important.

Throwball, let's just agree to disagree. I got to go to bed now (it is 12:40am in my part of the world) but I would be happy to explain my tiering more thoroughly in the morning if you want. I know that everyone has a different system but I feel confident in my system because I have had great success since 1996...

I wish you boys the absolutely the best this year!

I got a nasty 20 hour flight back to NA from Japan tomorrow but I'll post the tiering method that I've been using since the late- 1990s when I get back. Sorry but I was just way too busy today. It has been a great system for me and if it helps others win their leagues, I'd be super happy. I'm am a math/business teacher so it just makes perfect sense to me. But then again many other people have perfected systems that make them successful in FF so who knows, maybe I've just been lucky...
