I'm allowing 1 keeper in my league this year. First time for my league.

How would you guys run it?

I was planning to make the keeper the 1st round pick, and if you decide not to keep anyone then you get a 1st round pick.

Also, would you allow the managers to know who is "keeping" and who is not? I thought it would be cool to not let any managers know who gets a 1st round pick and who doesn't.....or am I missing something?

thanks for any input

Make them take a keeper after round # 4. That way no one gets an unfair advantage. That means all players picked in rounds 1 through 4 go back in the draft each year.

There are many ways to run a keeper league....some make the keeper only someone you can keep for one year and then they go back into the pool or you can create some staggered approach that you keep a player for multilply years.

I personally like it when you only get to protect a player when they are selected beyond a certain round and the next year you have to protect them if you wish with a pick perhaps 2-4 rounds earlier. Then the following year they automatically go back into the pool. The key is to be consistent with whatever you choose and getting the bye in of the others in the league.

Perhaps you set up the rule guidelines this year and then protected players become the norm next year.

I'm confused by the comment:

"would you allow the managers to know who is "keeping" and who is not? I thought it would be cool to not let any managers know who gets a 1st round pick and who doesn't."

If someone in your league has decided to keep someone they would already know they are forfeiting a 1st round pick and if others in your league look at the players on the other teams they can probably deducted who will be keeping a player and those who won't be.
