In a trade post, Jeff raised a question which I would like to get answered. Can you use the Trade Analyzer to evaluate the pickup of a player who has potential only if they move into the starting slot. In this example, the request was should Hillis be dropped for Powell.

In my working with the tools, my experience is that until Powell has assumed his new role, the TA assigns values based on his role as the back-up. Once he assumed the role, then the numbers would increase.

What is correct? When does or how does the TA look at a situation like Powell, and when are results increased or decreased (Greene's) to reflect the anticipated change, when it may never happen.

I had always assumed that I had to determine the value without the input from the tools, since they are statistically based.

Would appreciate some insight.

Unfortunately, the TRAN can only crunch what it has in actual production and is limited in how much it can intuitively project forward based on speculation.

This is where the human element of the owner has to come into play. Until Powell does indeed start taking over for Greene, and there's no guarantee it will be Powell, could be someone else like Jonathan Grimes instead (after all, who saw Andre Brown leap-frogging David Wilson in NY?). That's all speculative and not something concrete.

“I am hosting one league on NFL.com as well. Personally I thing there projections are way out of sync and have been less than reliable. I completely ignored them all year and instead took input from the LA at FFS which has proven to be much more accurate”. (Hooked 5 year Member)
