I've used the tier method in all my pools this year, im 2-4, 3-3 and 2-4. Not sure if this is usual, i know its only week 7 but its hard to make the playoffs when ppl in your Div are 6-0 and 4-2.

This is my first year using this site and maybe im just haven a bad year

sorry for the rant but im not good at losing lol

alan, i'm a big believer in tiers, trust me it's the way to go. like you, i've had some injury issues, fjax, gronk, bush, big ben's o-line, fred davis hitting the bong between halves! it's hard to put the blame on the tiers, moreso fate. lots of luck involved. i've been using the site/strategy for 4 years, in that time 2 titles (one where i ran the table and took all the money except 2nd and 3rd place.

it's a good tool, and a strong foundation to start upon, but needs tweaking through ww acquisitions, trades.

i know i should have taken matt ryan over cam! alas cam was a higher tier. sometimes you've got to roll the dice.

This has been a strange year for fantasy football. Some of the higher ranked players have not done much, hit and miss.

I used this site last year and used the tier system and won the championship in my league... this year, so far I'm 3-3.

I tend to use tiers as well. Back to Back champion in a competitive (10) team league. Got off to a 2-0 start but now 3-3 after winning last week......so went 0-3 for a stretch.

Your league schedule, and chance play a big part as well. Keep manning the waiver wire and just do your best to try and stay one step ahead of your competition. Many times your competition tends to look only one week in advance while you should try to look weeks in advance and perhaps stash the favorable defense that has a great match up weeks from now that your opponent just dropped because they have a bye this week.

Every system for drafting will have it's good years and bad years. But I have found Tiering to be far more effective than the VBD system.

But remember, winning in fantasy football takes 3 things:

1) Draft the right players
2) Start the right players
3) Acquire the right players thru trades and free agency

If you're not doing #2, and aren't working #3, doesn't matter what you did in your draft. And even then, sometimes injuries, and bad luck, just can't be avoided. Do I win every year in every league? No. It's a matter of math in that sometimes you're going to lose. And I have had some horrific years where everything I did turned out to be wrong. That's just the way it is sometimes.

Best advice, is to not give up, and have faith that the players you drafted who may be underperforming now will adhere to the fantasy law of averages where they start having great games to make up for their poor ones.

Just remember that nobody or no tool can tell the future. This game is so much about luck. That's what makes it fun. However, some people and some tools will do better than others. There is a long history here of these tools averaging out to be better than the rest that I have seen/used. Stick with it. I know it stinks when you're down, but man is it fun when you're on top. Good Luck.

Also, don't forget to use the forums here along with the tools. The knowledge on these forums is really amazing.

I forgot to add that I was really happy (and actually still am) with my team in one league but I can't win to save my life. I started out 2-0. Since then, 0-4. I can't understand why my team can't get it done. Hopefully, like Russ said, the law of averages comes into play toward the end of the season and my team starts going off. Sometimes it just goes that way I guess.

Alan, I think the tiering system is a very good way to prepare and draft a team. I have used this method since I began some 29 years ago, before there was so much information available on the Internet. We had to speculate on how players would do based on newspaper articles and what we got from the talking heads on TV.

This year has been a strange year. I am in 3 leagues and using the same tiering method I am 4-2, 3-3 and 0-6. I used the same the method to dratt all three teams and the outcomes have been completely different. I keep going back and looking at the drafts to see what I could have done differently or if I made mistakes during the draft so I can change something for next year.

As Russ said, don't give up. There are many factors we can't figure into a draft. Injuries and luck are two of those factors that we must deal with. Ride it out and hope for the best.
