A couple of weeks ago, I showed you a conversation from a guy in my league who went on record to say that the ONLY reason why I was winning my High-Points league was because I had the Bears Defense. Well, we had our midseason redraft last week and not only was I ridiculed for keeping the Bears D as one of my 5 allotted keepers, my FFS projections showing Freeman, Palmer, Charles, Martin and Mike Williams as Top 15 players at their positions for the half was also laughed at. Here is some back-and-forth prior to Week 9 where I secured my third straight week with the league's high points:

Me, on why I kept the Bears D: "The projection site I used targeted the Bears D as the 35th overall value in a Week 9-16 draft. That's smack in between where this site ranked Julio Jones and Matt Forte. I would have kept Bears D even if I was only allowed to keep three players on my team."

HIM: "WHAT SITE IS THIS? I NEED TO PUT A BLOCK ON MY BROWSER SO I NEVER STUMBLE ACROSS IT. ANYONE THAT WOULD DRAFT BEARS DEFENSE BEFORE MATT FORTE IS INSANE. FIRST OFF HOUSTON HAS HAD THEIR BYE. ONCE AGAIN PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT SITE THIS IS. NO WAY THE BEARS DEFENSE CONTINUES TO AMASS PICK SIXES AT THEIR CURRENT RATE. I WILL TELL YOU RIGHT NOW THAT I WOULD HAVE TAKEN TEXANS DEFENSE STRAIGHT UP BEFORE BEARS IN A FULL REDRAFT". Then....

"Mas, hopefully you continue to preach the gospel of Fantasy Football Starters. It's obvious that they're "hero worship", "Arnie Spanier" type of projecting is right up your alley. You say that Bucs QB is rated #7 for the second half at QB, and Raiders QB #14. Well one of the sites I used for projections in the second half after we drafted combines a consensus of 16 "experts". Their combined ranking has Freeman #18, and Palmer #20. Your RB's they rank #6 and #14, not #7 and #8. Your WR's they rank #2, #30, and #37, not #11, #14, and #27. And this is an average of 16 different people, not one idiot that runs FFS".

Thank you, idiots at FFS for helping me secure a nearly insurmountable 121 point lead with 7 weeks to go.

And to that, our friend writes in response to another owner's message of "Just wanted to give a shout out to Mas on his 3rd Junkies title. Good job dude!!!"...

"Under normal circumstances I would agree with Norm that it's probably over. But there's a reason that a consensus of so-called fantasy experts rated the players that Mas drafted where they did. I'm only down 121 and there are others that are within 180. Mas is not going to be getting 55's from Doug Martin every week, nor are the Bears going to finish the season with 20 returns for TD. When those flukes stop happening, then what scores will Mas be posting? Plus if Doug Martin gets injured, Mas is done. He drafted poorly and needed a week like this out of the gate to make up for it."

Once again, thank you, FFS.

QB: Freeman, Palmer
RB: Martin, Charles, Ballard, Dwyer, Tate
WR: Cruz, Williams, D. Moore, Young, Garcon
TE: Gronk, Olsen
K: Gould, Henery
D: Bears, Rams

Sounds like bitter cry babies to me. I like the statement..."he drafted poorly" when you are crushing them in points.

Congrats.

No sense arguing with these people if you have the most points, if you hold onto the lead you'll have the last laugh. I've seen teams in the past that didn't look like good teams but ended up wininng it all. I would never tell someone they drafted poorly if they are in first place, instead I would think this person must be a genius.

Mas, just tell this guy you will talk to him after week 16! He's just trying to get in your head so just focus on the task at hand. He don't realize he's not just playing against you, but all us idiots here!!!

The one idiot isn't offended. But when people look at me as if I'm insane on certain things, I wait til the next week and ask them how it looks now? You've been doing that all season it sounds like, Mas. And while I agree the Bears D isn't going to put up 20 TD's this year, nor will Doug Martin have 55 points every week. They're still very likely to outperform other players you could have kept.

Fantasy Football is not about being popular in the minds of others; it's about winning. And guess what? YOU ARE!

“I am hosting one league on NFL.com as well. Personally I thing there projections are way out of sync and have been less than reliable. I completely ignored them all year and instead took input from the LA at FFS which has proven to be much more accurate”. (Hooked 5 year Member)
