I posted weeks ago that I was already out of playoffs, but refused to stop playing. Well, I am glad I had that attitude. Our Commish has sprung on us that the lower half of the rankings will be playing in our own playoffs for next years 1st overall pick. And since I won 5 weeks in a row, I have a bye this week, and really nice matchups after that.

How do you feel about the commish being able to make a decision of this type and not publish it prior to the beginning of the year? Just wondering, since it appears to me that the commish has too much power in this league. A commish is to implement and enforce the rules as determined by the league members, not make decisions without input. Just my opinion.

Good idea, so I'm not against the concept. How would you feel if you were the last place team and thought you had the first pick next year, if that is the way your league was setup prior to this decision. Guess this is a commentary on how much power a league commish should have. Just for information, where did the commish finish in the league? Out of the money and in the race for number 1 pick next year?

Actually I liked it, because we had people tanking and trading off key players at the end because they were partnering with their friends. That is how I lost the championship last year. As we started the playoffs, last years champ got his roommates key players and crushed throughout the playoffs.

This year we had to get REAL strict with the rules. Limit waiver moves, trades, and upped the money to flush out who would not play seriously.

As far as picks, we have NEVER given last place the first pick. We do some kind of drunken task on draft day (like The League) to determine pick order.

And right now, the Commish is actually in 1st place, with a bye going into the playoffs.

Sounds like a good idea and the commish is trying to make the league better. In most of my leagues, it cost an extra $100 if you finish last, which keeps the teams who miss the playoff from trading or dropping players to help buddies. We also have a policy that anyone who quits is automatically out for the next year, no questions, no excuses.

I might recommend the policy of booting anyone who stops trying. Thanks for the info.

Not sure I would make a decision like that mid-season for those teams NOT in the playoffs. Then again, it would be a league decision for the off season. I remember your post as well Chris, good job on sticking with it and putting together a win streak to finish the season.

I like the idea of the teams out of the playoffs playing for the #1 overall, but unless I know that going into a season I don't believe it's a decision to be made this late in the season. Thankfully in our league we don't have guys tanking or trading away talent if they are out of it. Good luck!

I dont recommend mid season rule changes especially without a vote.

But I do recommend anybody that quits mid season gets the boot.

I agree with most of the content.........mid season rule changes can cause a lot of problems.........I like the idea of a loser playoff for first draft spot next season..........we do that in one league I am in. Keeping the entry above $25 also weeds out quitters.
