Hi,

Can someone explain to my why gore did not receive the td credit but defense got the credit after qb fumbled the ball and he recovered it and ran it into the endzone..

Should be a stat correction. Who hosts your league, Yahoo, NFL? Contact your commissioner and get him to check with the host site.

Just checked Yahoo, who hosts my leagues and they do not have Gore with a TD. Not sure what the reasoning for that. Will be interesting to see what the scoring was.

Yeah I use CBS and it didnt count either but then I check all other websites they consider it as a fumble recovery for a td. This doesnt make sense. But why would they give the points to the defense. I may be wrong but..if a qb throws the ball to a wr then the wr fumbles the ball and another player of the offense picks it up and scores..They credit the yards and td to the qb..is that correct?

I would have thought he would have gotten credit for the TD, not sure why he didn't since the D wasn't even on the field and he is an O player. Interesting! Bet lots of games were decided by the 6 points given to the D and taken from Gore. Did the D get credit for a fumble recovery? I think it has to be a mistake and will be corrected.

Believe it or not I think it was scored correctly. At least in the league I'm in when a QB throws a "Pick 6" it counts against your defense because once the pick six happens your offesense becomes your defense.

I have seen plays were my defensive player Patrick Peterson was put in on offense and I didn't receive any credit for his rushing yards. A couple of weeks ago Edelman of the Patriots had a defensive TD on special teams but due to him being an offensive player the TD didn't count.

I know it's weird but once the fumble occurred the 49ers offense became the defense so to speak. There wasn't a hand off involved or a pass so Gore can't receive credit.

James, just googled the play and it appears that there is a scoring type that needs to be checked for the play to be awarded to Gore, ORFTD - offensive recovery for TD, which would apply the td to the offense but not to Gore, since we do not award return yardage in our leagues. In our Yahool leagues, neither Gore nor the SF D got credit for a td, which appears to be correct.

In researching this, it appears that the only way Gore would get rushing yardage and a td would have been if it had been his own fumble. The NFL defines the advancement of a fumble as return yardage and does not credit that yardage to the O player. NFL's definition is that rushing yardage and passing yardage must occur from a rush or reception, not from advancing a fumble. The mistake made here, was IF the td was given to the SF D, which it should not have been and is not in Yahoo leagues.

Wonder if NFL.com will correct their scoring. Just checked and SF didn't get the TD but they did give Gore 6pts under the Misc category of "Fum TD". Guess since they have the scoring category, it'll stand as such. Go figure...another thing not exactly impressing me with NFL.com

Ok it's OT, but my pet peeve is NFL.com's Snicker's Hunger Foul "award". Given to the losing team with the most bench bench points. You could have started the best lineup and still get it because it blindly adds all the points! It doesn't calculate your final score vs your optimal score - just plain...ok, getting off my soapbox, lol!!

NFL.com may be innocent in this situation. NFL, the league, defines this situation as return yardage. In my leagues neither Gore or the SF D got the td.
