RB Shane Vereen- Patriots

Now that Danny Woodhead has signed with the Chargers and vacated the Patriots, Vereen moves into his slot and should see a great deal of playing time and receptions. Combine that with RB Stevan Ridleyís continuing ball security issues Vereen might eventually be the RB # 1 back in New England.

Vereen averaged 6.4 yards per carry last season and played a higher percentage of snaps than Ridley. He is a great sleeper pick this year in PPR and has a great potential to put in a big year now that Welker has left New England and star TE Rob Gronkowski is in serious doubt of starting in the early part of the season as well as the exit of TE A. Hernandez, who the Patriots were counting on to keep the chains moving.

Latest report out of the Patriot's camp is that Vereen was playing the wide receiver position in recent work- outs.

Vereen should be considered on all PPR lineups.

Your thoughts on the now departed Woodhead, James? We have seen other backs of this type succeed in SD. NO guarantees that Glass Joe (aka Mathews) will remain healthy....

Woodhead is a change of pace back only. However, I have him down as a PPR sleeper RB # 3 or # 4. If Mathews gets hurt, I could see him getting 8- 10 carries a game. His strength will be receiving. He's just not big enough to be a full time back.

He is on my sleeper list. I will be profiling him in the future. Instead of writing one long article, I will post a couple on the board every two weeks leading up to training camp.

Sorry! I think Woodhead in SD Offense will be hugh, they are still kicking themselves for letting Sproles get away. Kind of back Rivers likes! Problem is getting him late enough in the draft to make him payoff,
