14th pick in a 14 team leauge. Snake draft.

I am strongly considering top two RB's on the board for my first two picks.

Any words of wisdom on this?

Thanks and looking forward to another year of back of forth.

14 team drafts are tough. But I assume you will be getting two back to back picks in the 14th and the 15th? If so, then you should pick up at least one RB. Best one available for your scoring system. Now, if a top WR like Marshall or Dez might be there then I would take one of them. Probably Dez since he has a very easy schedule.

The reason I would do that is if you take two RB's you will not have a top anchor WR on your team if you wait almost two full rounds to pick after round 2.

I have been in this situation before.

I would go like this in your draft depending on who is available:

Round 1 and 2- RB, Top WR.

Rounds 2 and 3-- RB- WR or Top Qb if one of the top # 7 QB's are available.

That way, you will have two good RB's, an Anchor WR and possibly a top QB. If you don't draft a Qb by round 4, then you are looking at grabbing an okay QB at the end of round 5 or beginning of round 6.

Hope I am making sense!

Never played in a 14 team league, but I would think drafting 14th in a snake draft, you would have to go for consistent pts on your first 2 picks. RB's, WRs, TE that will get you 10+ pts a game or QB that will get you 15+ pts a game, almost everyweek regardless of the matchup. You don't need anyone that pads their numbers by having a great game every 3 or 4 weeks. You could have won those games anyway and lost the others! Homework is very important here, you can take chances on speculation after the 5th round. Keep an eye on the injury bug you will have to play the waiver wire better than the other teams and you're at the right website to do that! Losing in the playoffs is hard but not making it there is even harder! Good Luck!!!!

I won't play in a league that large any more. I didn't find it enjoyable for a few reasons. One the draft can be ruined in a single round, two there is NOTHING on the wire.

With that opinion out of the way I think you can go back to back RB to start since you won't have much to look at when the draft gets back to you in the 3rd. Although I do agree with James, if there is still a top WR you might consider him over the second RB.

The league is still rather deep on WRs, so that could weigh your decision to pick up that 2nd RB to start round 2. Again, it will depend on what is on the board when your picks come up.

Yes I have been seeing Dez, DT, Percy still on the board often when my first two pics arrive. I seem to have SJAX, S. Ridley, Forte, C. Johnson on the board when my first two picks show up. I am leaning toward SJAX or Ridley with Dez.

Thanks

Picking at the end of a 14 team draft is tough, but if the top 10 RB's are gone, I think you go with a RB and a WR there if Dez Bryant is available. Then in rounds 3-4 hope to get another top 25 RB and a QB (as there should still be some excellent one's there; can't chance they are all gone by your next pick at 5/6 turn).

Leagues that size are tough, but you should stil be able to execute a successful draft from that point.

The only thing I'll add is "gap" yes you go back to back but then it's a long time till you take you 3rd and 4th round picks with a boatload of players going out. and that has to influnce who you are taking.

The caveat of a 14-team is double tough (I won't play in one, I'm in a 10-team most I've been in is 12-team) so that being said I don't see how QB can be a part of the first two picks it has to be RB/RB or RB/WR...taking a QB/RB for example (even though there may yet be a good one) is going to woefully make you weak at WR when the step down to QB won't be that great. Once you get past the top 3-5 QB's you can kinda throw a blanket on 6-15...there are always exceptions I know but in general.

Played in this last year and had #1 pick. I won every reg season game and 1st playoff game. Lost 2nd playoff and took 4th. Will be different this year picking 14th. I am leaning toward 2 RB and 2WR first 4 picks. If any of top 3 QB are still on board come pic 3 I will take them.

Hey here is what I am seeing on 14 team drafts: If I go RB/RB I get my choice of Forte, SJAX, Bush, Reedly most of the time. By end of the 3rd the best WR available or Welker, Decker, Garcon. I am starting to lean toward RB/WR so I get a solid #1 WR either: Dez, B Marshall, AJ, DT. I can then go RB/RB for 3-4 pick since I get last pick on odd rounds and 1st pick on the even rounds. Romo and Ryan are sometimes left at end of round 5 but sometimes I have to take Eli in the this round. 6 is another WR.

Any thoughts? 0.5 PPR, 6TD all around.

I like the thinking on the RB/WR with the 1st and 2nd rounders, and then going RB/RB at the 3/4 turn.
