why 2 defenses? and so early. granted james you're more knowledgeable than i, but i don't draft defense until the last pick i have and i've been pretty successful with that. curious what your thought process was. thanks!

PPR or no PPR, AP is still "projected" to score 25 more points than the next-best RB.

Tom,

18 rounds of drafting I pick up two defenses and two TE's. If it was a 16 round draft I would only pick up 1 of each. Plus, defenses are heavily weighted in points in this league.

Mas,

Depends on the scoring system. But in some the draftboards I have seen, AP is not even projected as a top # 3 back due to the weak QB and lack of receptions.

In fact, the best thing that could happen to AP is if Ponder gets benched in favor of Cassel.

I think that Foster's nagging injury issues have people worried. In fact, if he was totally healthy, Foster might be the guy to take in PPR over AP.

Not that I will ever know, since in all of my upcoming PPR drafts, the earliest pick I have is in the sixth spot!

in a similiar scoring situation as yours, with your third pick would you take fitz, cobb, a johnson or cruz? if you has two rb like u took in rounds 1+2? all look good, who would be your top two?

I would take Cobb over Fitz, by just a hair, then Johnson, then Cruz.

Check out Cruz's fantasy playoff schedule in weeks, 14- 16, he has some tough matchups.

James, I really like Cobb this year, but don't think I will have a shot at him. Drafting 12th in 12 team .5ppr league, I will go RB and then Elite WR. I think all but 1 or 2 top WR's will be availble. How do you rank your top 5 WR's this year?

I like Megatron, Bryant, Marshall, Green, J Jones, D Thomas, Cobb, then Fitz... in PPR.

After that it gets a little murky. I think White is rated too high this year.

Cobb could really bust out and catch 80 to 90 passes. He will be a monster until Nelson comes back healthy.

Okay,

Here is what happened. I had six trade offers and finally accepted one.

Again. Here is my roster:

1.9--RB Trent Richardson ( Can you believe Charles went 1.8?)

2.4-- RB.Reggie Bush-

3.9--WR L Fitzgerald- (Could not believe he was there this late!)

4.4-- RB- Demarco Murray- (Great value for a Rb# 3 in PPR. But can he stay healthy?)

5.9--WR P. Garcon- ( Riskiest pick of the draft. If he stays healthy, he should put up borderline WR # 1 numbers. But it's a great risk. Best PPR WR available)

6.4-- QB- T. Romo. (Easiest schedule of the top QB's. I had to take him here. Stafford and Colin K.... went right after Romo.)

7.9--RB D Richardson. (I took him rather than take a WR here. If he hits, I can use him as trade bait later on. Should get a lot of receptions if he can hold off Pead.)

8.4-- TE Owen Daniels. (Has to stay healthy.)

9.9-- WR Golden Tate- (Should put up decent numbers since Harvin is out. Perfect WR # 3 fit in PPR.)

10.4--QB Eli Manning-( Had to get a decent QB earlier than I wanted. Romo's o-line is weak and Manning provides great depth as a QB # 2.)

11.9-- WR Kendall Wright- (Is this the year he breaks out? I hope!)

12.4-- WR Brian Hartline- ("Heartbreak Hotel." Vincent Brown, who I was targeting was picked up right before this pick! But, I think Hartline will put up decent numbers since Wallace will be double-teamed often.)

13.9- WR Julian Edelman- ( Super sleeper pick. If he can stay healthy, Brady should go to him often. High risk, high reward pick.)

14.4 Texans Defense

15.9 Cardinals Defense--( Would have taken J. Bell to back up Bush here, but he went the pick before mine. Bummer!)

16.4- RB Zack Stacy--( I hope he is insurance for Richardson if he gets hurt.)

17.9 Kicker Josh Brown-- Giants

18.4- TE Rob Housler- Little risk here even if he bombs.)

He offered J. Bell and D Bowe for my D. Murray and Golden Tate. I accepted. I never wanted Murray. I drafted him as trade bait early so the other teams would offer me trades because the WR's went so fast. I only took the trade if J. Bell was included with Bowe. This covers me if Bush gets injured because Bell is Bush's handcuff.

So now I have T Rich, Bush, Bell, D Rich, and Stacy for my RB's.

I now have Fitz, Bowe, Garcon, Kendall Wright, Hartline, and Edelman.

Start 3 WR's and 2 RB's each week.

This is why you should draft RB's early. Let the other guys grab the receivers then they will come at you with trade offers because they underdrafted the RB position.

As I have said before. It's easier to replace a starting receiver then a starting RB.

Now this gives me a strong receiver squad as well as a potent rb group in PPR.

Resist the runs and panic you see in the early part of the draft. If most the coaches run on receivers, take running backs if you can't get the top talent and use them for trade bait later.

Be diverse and able to change you draft strategy at a moments notice.

Most importantly, don't panic.

I just have to hope that T Rich Stays healthy.
