So it was our 30th anniversary draft, unfortunately I spent the draft sitting in my kitchen with 2 laptops going, watching English football and drinking Micheladas, eating chips and salsa instead of poolside in the cabana in Vegas. Sh*t happens, I think Vegas will be a thing of the past next year.

As for the draft, I went in with absolutely no preparation. I use FFS and the tools, printed up my sheets and had no players I wanted to draft. Who knows maybe that will work out better this year. Time will tell. I was #6 out of 10 to draft, which put me in a good position. I also used the ebook, but diverted about round 10 because of starter requirements in the league.

1. Rice, RB BAL

2. Jackson, RB ATL

3. Thomas, WR DEN

4. Cobb, WR GB

5. Ball, RB DEN

6. Griffin III, QB WAS

7. Garcon, WR WAS

8. Ingram, RB NO

9. Cutler, QB CHI

10. Flacco, QB BAL

11. Brown, RB PHI

12. Thompkins WR, NEP

13. Moore, WR NO

14. Rudolph, TE MIN

15. Prater, K DEN

16. Janikowski, K OAK

17. Housler, TE AZ

League scoring is 1/10 and 1/25 with bonus points starting at 200 for RB/WR and 300 for QB. 6 pts for TDs and 4 pts for TDP. We also have the ability to start 2 QBs.

I know many will object to my teams because I have 2 kickers, 2 TEs and 3 QBs. I don't like to use the waiver wire. I don't like to spend money unnecessarily on covering BYE weeks. That's called planning or poor planning if you didn't cover your byes. Also a bit old school since we used to use supplementals and I still haven't bought into the entier waiver wire to build your team after the draft. I don't consider that a strategy, just poor drafting.

QBs are strong, if Bob3 can stay healthy. I do like Cutler this season with a new west coast type offense and no longer emphasising the run. We will see if the 3 step drop helps. Flacco is my bye week cover unless he starts off hot.

RBs are question marks after Rice. Wasn't sold on S Jax, but I chose him over Forte hoping the ATL has a strong offense and better offensive line. Ball has a good chance at making an impact in DEN but is weak for a #3. Ingram was the highest tiered RB when I draft him in R 8. Brown nothing more than depth.

WR are my strong players this season, in fact I like all of them. Even took a bit of a flier on Thompkins in NE. We will see how he and Brady gel as the season gets started since all the balls can't go to Gronky. I like the combo with Garcon as the #1 in WAS and Moore is a starting WR in another high powered offense.

TE, yeah I know 2 of them. I need to have a back up, even though that pick could have been spent on a RB or WR. I decided not to do that and picked Rudolph, who probably won't be as good this year as he was last with new WR talent in MIN. Housler, that pick was for James, just because he made a strong case to draft him as a TE2.

Kickers, like both the AFC guys, they can hit from distance and are accurate.

Overall, the team isn't that impressive and seemed to draw many comments about not being on par with the other 9 teams in my league. Ah well, maybe it will be a sleeper year for me. Who knows.

I actually like the team a lot. The Jax vs Forte thing is the only thing I might have differed, but I think that is my own mental bias....I think Ingram is going to surprise you this year....

I went old school when it came to the draft, I knew the ebook had a solid plan, even if it's more geared toward newer or inexperienced players. It's quite similar to how I was drafting before the recent QB success saw 9 and 10 QBs off the board in the first 2 rounds the lasts 2 years. I felt good to be in the middle of the draft with newer owners around me.

I struggled with the Jackson/Forte decision. I finally asked my wife, so if I bomb this season I have an excuse. Right? I did have Forte a few years back and traded him the week before he went off. With a change in offense this year in CHI, he doesn't look to play the same dominate role, that paritally led to my decision. The only other RBs on the board at that time, CJ2K and Al Morris or I could have gone QB with Peyton or Brees. Doing that would have made my RB2 suffer.

TBH I like it, I think you are solid at QB I had RG III last year and if they can collar him just a little and keep him upright for 16-games...you'll be very pleased and Flacco and Cutler gives you good depth.

You have two pencil in startters in Rice and S-JAx and a whole lot of "wait and see" with the rest of the RB's but who doesn't...RB is wildy down these days.

I like (not love) your WR's, Peyton and Rodgers will throw to the cheerleader if she's open so Thomas and Cobb will have their days. I love the kid Tompkins and Garcon and Moore are second tier what Thomas and Cobb are...good days and not so much

Solid at TE with Rudolph hard to like any offensive rec in Phoenix with Cooper going down...we'll see but I have no problem with drafting two...you maybe right less preperation may be the key!

Good luck!

Less preparation ONLY if you win. I am sure it will grow on me, but I do agree a lot of wait and see. Not really a comfortable feeling heading towards week 1

Funny, in years past I just relied on what I learned to get me through the draft, this year I tried to prepare myself better, give me an advantage! Unfortunately nobody else in my league plays by my rules? Still ended up about the same.

But I do agree with what Michael always says, I didn't win the championship during the draft, but I didn't lose it either. So it all depends on what I do from this point on! Till the first game starts, it's still an even playing field.

Wasn't sure where to post so here goes. I'm thinkin of dropping DeAngelo Williams for Zach Sudfeld. Here's why. First in our leaguebyou can start 1 RB & 4 WRs so it's not a death sentence not to be loaded at RB. I already have Charles & Morris with a nice HC in Helu my only other back is Christine Micheal. Sudfeld's upside is Aaron Hernandez. We all know how much Belichek loves the 2 TE set. While Gronk is out Sudfeld could turn into a beast especially in the redzone 6'7" Gronk comes back draws double coverage and Zach continues to shine. My opinion in that divison Williams upside is limited even with Stewart out. Would anyone be so bold and make this move. I don't think Sudfeld makes it out of the first weeks waiver wire. Thoughts ???

Might be kicking yourself with not taking Forte. I think he has a monster year. I almost took Forte in the 2nd rd ended up with Morris. No regrets Forte was taken 2 pics later. SJax went mid 3rd rd. That might be a tad high even. 10 team H2H
