Flex players and must play tight ends:

our league was established in 1988 so maybe I am just old or I don't like change but what purpose do either serve? There is such a limited number of true tailbacks in the league and i can't see the benefit of putting an extra one in. There are even fewer legitimate tight ends. Why force anyone to start one when they are really just another WR? Just curious to anyone's reasonoing as to how either make any league more enjoyable

just for FYI

Boozehounds, Houston TX

1pt 20yds passing, 3 pts pass TD, 1 pt 2ptpat,

1 point 10yds rushing/recieving, 6pt td, 2pt, no ppr or ppc

DST 6pt td 1 pt blk, INT, FR- 10pts shutout 5pts under 10pts

K- 3 pts FG +2pt 50+, 1pt pat

It just means you have to prepare more for your draft.

If a coach gets a lousy draft spot, having flex players and/or tight end can even the field a little bit.

AAAHH Yes,1988! Right around the time I was being introduce to the game, did you know I would drive 35 miles through ragings haboobs and driving rain,, the 35 mi part is true. just to submit a line-up at the Indian Casino then have to wait until the Monday morning news paper came out then I could tally the stats just so I could get an idea of how I was doing before the Wed eve results., I guess some change is good, this internet thing sure does save on gas?

Flex Position I never really viewed it as an additional player, nine positions rather the typical eight. Following the limited number of true tailbacks and using that suggestion; in the flex format's (PPR's) I may opt to start only one RB with 3 WR's Basically allowing a RB WR combo 2-2 or 1-3. Adding a 9th position is really only good to increase scoring?

As for the TE ? I believe it is a postion that in what ever capcity scored some points, and they need to be accounted for? Remember when it use to be a race to Tony G. As the league trended from a run the ball mentality to the move fast , push the ball down field philosphy the evolution of the pass catching TE position began as the quality of the athlete and skill level increased former Basketball players seemed to be the key.

I did the same thing Dana. Running down to the Casino using the free trade tickets. One time I hit a jackpot for $1,100 on my way out?

Look at Jordan Reed. He single handedly pulled two of my teams out of the losing doldrums after I waived Jared Cook. I snagged him early and he hit for me in PPR.

so, what you're saying is no one has a reason, lol- and yeah- I used to be the commish in those days, line ups on voice mail--- errr.... answering machine and a few by fax, waited around the local five and dime on tuesday morning for the USA Today to come out, then a few days arguments as other sources said fumble/not a fumble- like those AT&t commercials, you kids don't know how good ya got it!! ah for the days of my stealing that Montana/Rice combo
