Never played in a league where you couldn't pick up free agent players up until kick off. All the leagues that I play in this year and in years past are that way. All players locked after kick off in their game and are put on the ww which is worked on Wednesday AM at about 4 AM. Once the ww is processed, the remaining players become FA's and can be picked up at anytime by anyone in the league, with the exception that the teams that are not in the playoffs are locked and cannot drop or add players once they are eliminated.

Start 1-QB, 2-WR, 2-RB, 1-TE, 1-WR/RB/TE, 1-K, 1-D

12 Team PPR League 0.25 pts/completion 1 pt/rec 1 pt 10 yds rushing & receiving 6 pts TD, 1 pt 25 yds/ passing 4 pts passing TD, -2 fumble, -2 int

Just another comment, I could not ever see me playing in a league that wouldn't allow FA players to be added until the game started. Seems to me that this eliminates much of the skill and makes luck a much larger part of the game.

oh, no, you can mess with players on your roster until game times, like I am still sitting on the Bush/Bell decision, just say we find out both can't go I have no way to put in random #3 guy- I have AP and picked up Gerhert before the wednesday midnight deadline, obviously did me no good

No league allows you to put a player in your lineup after the game he is playing has started. However, I am betting in your league that you can add a Lion or Raven FA player and drop Bush or Bell up until the game starts. Some leagues allow you to drop any bench player, even if his team has played, since you can drop a bench player at any time. That is the way the leagues that I play in are set up. Since you only have 2 teams left to play, then your selection of players that you can select from for tonight must be from those 2 teams. Options like Marlon Brown, etc.

and only1putt, is it just 1st come first serve with just a set fee? again, just curious as to how these leagues word the rules- can't imagine missing all that money out of our kitty, we have silent bids, higest by deadline gets the player

The vast majority of leagues do not use an auction, silent or otherwise, for FA and WW. So you are talking about a small % of the leagues. I have chosen not to play in auction leagues, just my call, so really don't know how they work. I tired one several years ago and the teams with poor records dropped out early since they did not want to spend any money on ww acquistions, which destroys the balance of the league in my opinion.

With Thursday night games, I don't see how an auction works for anything but ww, since I can't put my starting lineup in place until often late Saturday. FA's, and I think I am correct here, have a set fee for picking up players in some auction leagues. Perhaps some of the guys on here who play in those type leagues can help with how that works. Auction leagues just aren't the type leagues that I enjoy.

sorry as this thread is getting long, just trying to figure out the logistics- ours is not an 'auction league' per se, just free agents, we have a min $5 bid, the commisioner who has access to all bids has to bid prior to midnight tuesday (assuming thurs game) with the rest of the league bidding between then and weds 11:59, highest bid gets the player, sure some people get cheap and start to drop off but then the bids pick up from people who are in the money- not sure about the 'vast majority' I am usually in 4-6 leagues, over the course of 30+ years and have never had people running willy-nilly with the waiver wire- I am trying to get some of my leagues to change to delay the picking up of players not involved in TNF to still be picked up at the same time not messing with the kitty (in most my leagues the WW $$ is well over $2k and maybe a third or more of the pot)

I can see how those in the hunt will bid up. What I didn't like was that trying to win in a head to head league and make the playoffs, and I am playing another contender in the final week and the guy who will get in if I don't is playing a guy who gave it up 3 weeks ago and not wanting to put more money in the pot since he isn't going to make it anyway. Seems to me that the other team gets a cake walk.

What we did to offset was increase the league fees and to have a "kick in the junk" penalty, where the last place team pays double the entry fee. That keeps everyone in the hunt until the last week of playoffs. Different strokes for different folks.

Do you set a fixed maximum amount that you must spend or can spend for the year on ww acquisitions, doesn't sound like you do.
